DESCRIBE THE EVENT, TRY TO INCLUDE HOW IT RELATES TO YOUR MISSION OR VALUES
The Welcoming Ceremony is one of the most important annual events of the Chinese Global Community. The purpose of this event is to reunite the returning students and welcome the new students to our campus, as well as help the international students to integrate into the UCSD community. Specifically, the “CGC Opening Ceremony” is a grand opening ceremony that primarily features stage performances. This celebration marks the commencement of the new academic year, showcasing a variety of artistic expressions through dance, drama, and music performances, reflecting the cultural diversity and creative talents within the academic community. Our goal for this opening ceremony is not only to let new students know how CGC could help them in their future University life but also to create a sense of belonging to them in this brand-new life. In addition, we are committed to helping new students get a quicker understanding of the facilities and the various departments available to them, and we will introduce UCSD to students at this opening ceremony so that they will not be unfamiliar with the campus. We also organize audience interactions so that new students can make friends from the moment they arrive and not be alone. This event is open to every single student (including newly admitted, transferring, and current students) and every staff member in the UC San Diego community. We hope that this event will serve as a mobilization for the start of the new academic year, encouraging students and staff to work together and enjoy their new academic life.

Hello requesting student organization. For context as to why this application has been denied, I have sent a message through the CSI Principal Members Listserv regarding any outstanding applications. It should be titled “23/24 AS Programming & Tournament Funds”. Hopefully, this can clear any confusion regarding the outstanding application(s). I will also attach the message here for convenience: "Hello Principal Members, We hope everyone is well and enjoying the Spring Quarter so far! We are writing to provide an important update regarding the availability of Programming and Tournament and Competition funds for the remainder of the 23-24 Academic Year. After successfully funding hundreds of events this year, we regret to inform you that we have now exhausted all available funds from the Office of AVP of Student Organizations. As outlined in our 23-24 AS Funding Guide, it is our responsibility to notify student organizations when our Programming and Tournament and Competition funds are depleted. Being that funds allocated for Programming and Tournament and Competitions have depleted, any applications currently labeled "Under Review" for Spring Quarter 2024, will go unfunded due to the exhaustion of our office's funds. We understand the impact this may have on your planned events and deeply regret any inconvenience this may cause. We hope that there was enough forewarning for this occurrence, from our earlier email sent on April 2, 2024, notifying principal members of declining Programming and Tournament and Competition funds. As a reminder, funding for student organizations is not guaranteed and is distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, as stated in the AS Funding Guide. We strongly encourage all student organizations to plan accordingly for the rest of the academic year. Still, if you have any questions or need further clarification, please do not hesitate to reach out to me at avpstudentorgs@ucsd.edu or visit me during my office hours, which can be found at this link. Thank you all so much for your understanding and cooperation. We appreciate your efforts and contributions throughout the year and hope you have a great and productive Spring Quarter." Please let me know if you have any questions!
