IS THE EVENT ON CAMPUS?
Please briefly describe why this event fits into the A.S funding guidelines
This event fits the A.S. funding guidelines because it is a free, non-profit, educational program that directly benefits UC San Diego students. It provides career development resources and networking opportunities for engineering students, is open and inclusive to all interested UCSD students, does not involve alcohol or high-risk activities, and any A.S. funds will be used only for food that provide to student participation. This event is a small-group career networking night hosted by the Chinese Engineering Society (CES). We plan to host about 100 UC San Diego engineering students in an indoor space with chairs and tables. The event will use a “speed networking” format with 5–7 themed tables (Resume Review, Interview Tips, Research Opportunities, Coffee Chat, and Career/Internship Q&A, etc). Students will rotate between tables every 6–8 minutes to ask questions and receive one-on-one or small-group advice from trained CES officers and volunteers. There is no loud music, dancing, or physical activity. All conversations focused on professional development (resume feedback, mock interview questions, sharing research or internship experiences, etc.). Approximately 25 student organizers will be on duty to manage check-in, timekeeping, crowd flow, and clean-up. Meals and non-alcoholic drinks may be provided. No money will be collected and no items will be sold. The event is designed as a low-risk, discussion-based program to support students’ career exploration and communication skills.
