Vietnamese Culture Night is an annual show hosted by the UCSD Vietnamese Student Association (VSA) that invites the general public to enjoy Vietnamese culture. It welcomes organization members to bond and reconnect with Vietnamese culture as they take part in the show via a play, traditional dances, modern dance, and prop making. Every year, this performance aims to convey a message that is centered around Vietnamese culture, and gives participants and audience members an outlet to express and appreciate longstanding traditions VSA’s four pillars are: community, academic, social, and cultural. We aim to tackle the community, culture, and social pillars with our culture night. We provide a space for VSA members to find a new community within our organization by collaborating on a large project as well as spread awareness to all those that attend the show. We emphasize culture throughout our performances in the overall script of the play as well as the dances that draw on traditional dance. And last, the social pillar is implicated as the production would not be possible without the collaboration between all parties involved.
