Please briefly describe why this event fits into the A.S funding guidelines
ACS-SA is hosting a faculty speaker event and we hope to achieve three goals with this event. Firstly, students will have the ability to network with the faculty speaker and gain confidence/experience in networking with professionals in the chemistry field. Secondly, we hope to use this event as an opportunity to showcase the interesting, and often unknown, sides of chemistry. The faculty speaker will shed light on interesting topics such as chemistry research, his or her career in chemistry, and other useful advice for a chemistry career. We hope these covered topics will enlighten the attendees and assist them in their future endeavors. Finally, our last goal is for this event to be a community bonding opportunity. Not only will students be networking with the faculty, but they will also network amongst themselves, bringing the chemistry community here at UCSD closer together. In summary, we hope this event will foster community and assist the undergraduates of the chemistry department in their pursuit of success, all of which are the values ACSSA stands for and strives to achieve.
