The purpose of the event was to provide an interactive resume review session for UCSD students. The goal was to help attendees refine their resumes, receive personalized feedback, and gain insights into how to present their experiences effectively to potential employers. The event aimed to create a supportive environment where students could get the help they needed to enhance their resumes and feel more confident in their job applications.
The event was considered a success, as participants were highly engaged during the resume review session. Many attendees actively sought feedback on their resumes, and several expressed that the advice they received was extremely helpful. The interactive nature of the session ensured that students could address their specific concerns and gain valuable insights to improve their resumes.
One of the most valuable resources for the event was the collaboration and support of the board members. Their efforts in setting up the event and managing logistics were crucial to its success. Their teamwork ensured that the event ran smoothly, allowing the focus to remain on delivering meaningful value to the attendees.
However, a challenge that arose during the event was the lack of engagement during the presentation portion. While the interactive resume reviews were well-received, students were less involved during the slide presentation, which could have diminished the impact of that segment.
To improve future events, the presentation could be made more engaging by incorporating interactive elements, such as real-time polls or live feedback sessions, to keep participants actively involved. Asking questions or inviting students to share their resume challenges during the presentation could also foster greater engagement.
From a promotional standpoint, future advertisements could emphasize that the event is open to all levels, including those who do not yet have a resume. Some attendees expressed uncertainty about participating without a resume, which could be addressed by clarifying that the event welcomes students at all stages of resume preparation. Making the advertisements more inclusive and encouraging for beginners would attract a broader audience and ensure that everyone feels comfortable attending.
