DVC Presents: SUN GOD AFTER DARK 2024
159
We got more attendees than expected, solely as our production team believed that this event would not perform as well as last year's Sun God Lawn event, given that DVC's performance in on-campus events had been inconsistent last school year. However, the actual attendance as filled out in the form was significantly less than the actual attendance, being around 600 undergraduate students. It was extremely difficult to enforce the new AS QR Code for attendance, given that we were in an outdoor space and there was no gates to ensure that all attendees would be checked.

N/A, all of the form responses that said "Lightstick" were items from DVC's supplies.
The Deejays and Vinylphiles Club at UCSD hosted a Week 0 dance event at Sun God Lawn featuring student DJs from our organization, providing music, lighting, and live visuals
While the recorded attendance was 159, the in-person attendance exceeded our expectations and surpassed DVC's previous Sun God Lawn event last year with 2024 RSVPs online, and around 600 undergraduates attending the event. We constantly had students coming in and out of the event, all while maintaining a packed crowd at the event.
AS funding towards the stage and equipment was extremely valuable as we were able to have a production comparable to an industry-level event.
It was extremely difficult to get students to stop and fill out the QR Code form for attendance during the event, as students just went straight to Sun God Lawn without checking in and were more focused on enjoying the event. Also, some students may have chosen a different event on the form by accident as "Sun God" was a term used in another event on the form at the time. There was also some disconnect between security and DVC, as we believed that there was some extra time after the 10pm curfew.
More marketing, more collaborations with other groups on campus, as well as improved ticketing processes for outdoor events.
Funds allocated towards Instagram boosts, social media was our strongest form of advertising for this event.
More allocation of funds for organizations is vital for our organization and others. While we didn't expect our event to perform so well, we had to make budget cuts in marketing and stage production solely because the budget limits for events prevented us from doing so, helping provide a greater production for students to enjoy. Other organizations who need productions and large marketing budgets are limited by budget limits, so allocating more money for organizations and being transparent with any changes to funding. Also, the QR code was extremely difficult to implement for our event due to it being on Sun God Lawn, an outdoor venue, so being understanding towards these types of scenarios and providing a better form of tracking attendance would be great.
