This was actually pretty accurate compared to our prediction. There are less participants overall since it is the end of the year and there are no inductees present, but the 198 classes came to help with the tour as well which is why we had a decent turnout overall.

The goal of the event was to expose Harriet Tubman’s middle schoolers to inspiring student organizations on campus (SEDS, NSBE and SHPE) to encourage them to pursue STEM, especially engineering, in the future. It was also meant to provide an introduction to college life and expectations.

Yes! Their teacher let us know that he was very happy with the tour and that the students all had a great time. SEDS showed the students what was possible with engineering and also gave them some part and projects to analyze. Many of the kids had insightful questions not only about engineering but also about what it was like to get to college as well as experience it which is always great to hear.

I don't think so. We had everyone (all tour leads & volunteers) sign in and we kept track to the best of our ability.

There was only one issue that arose during the tour that involved communication within SEDS internally which did cause a delay for one of the lab appointments, but this was easily resolved through discord communication during the tour.

There were many volunteers who did not fill out the form required for the tour until a couple days or even the day before the tour. This could be mitigated by sending reminders or even heavily emphasizing the need to fill out the google form early.

Our target for advertising is members of our org, so marketing is very good at getting where it needs to go through Instagram, our email newsletter, and Discord announcements.

AS funding was very helpful for this event. Having pizza at the end of these tours thanks our volunteers for their hard work and taking time out of their day to make material to present and present it for multiple sessions!
