Lockpicking 103: Breaking and Entering
69
Attendance was exactly what we expected (around 75 students). Actual attendance was a bit higher, but many attendees were first time students that did not know to properly check in using our ACM membership portal.

Cyber Kickoff: Lockpicking 103 Edition provided an overview of the technical workshops, socials, and other events that ACM Cyber has planned for the upcoming quarter, in a mixer style setting where prospective members can meet other cybersecurity enthusiasts, participate in a mini CTF competition, and get hands on experience with physical security. After introducing our organization, our collaborator Somerset Recon introduced their company and demonstrated some basic lockpicking techniques with the attendees. In summary, Cyber Kickoff served as a beginner friendly introduction to the realm of cybersecurity and the resources that are available for cybersecurity at UC San Diego.
The event was extremely successful; many first time students gained hands-on experience with physical security and were able to meet other cybersecurity interested students.
The room became quite full, and some studentes did not have seats and had to lockpick while standing.
We would make sure to get the funding for next time.
For this event, we did physical flyering around campus along with the default online marketing. In the future, we would like to post more photos of previous lockpicking success to motivate future attendees.
