Club member's personal finances
The goal of this event was to introduce our new members to what our club does, and to better facilitate team bonding between members with the food we received funding for.
This event was a success. The meeting was very informative and we were able to meet a lot of new people in the club. We spent a long time talking over food after the meeting ended.
No
A complication arose because we did not understand the full process for getting our order secured. We couldn't find any information about the correct ordering process, so we assumed that the SLBO would place the order for us, not that we had to place the order and just provide a confirmation number. One hour before the event, we called the place and they had never received an order from us, so they offered to rush-make the food for us. Instead of getting the delivery option that we originally requested the funding for, we picked it up and used that money to go toward a tip for their quick services.
In the future, since we are now aware of the process, we are going to place our order ahead of time and contact the SLBO to ensure that it is covered before the day of the event.
If we had a larger estimated attendance, we would also put up flyers around Price Center to increase our reach. So far, we just promoted the event on Instagram. We will continue to do so.
I do not have any feedback on the funding application itself as it was very easy to fill out. However, I would like to request that the Funding Guide be updated to also include the processes after our funding application has been approved. It was our fault because my group filled out the TAP incorrectly so we never received contact from the SLBO, but we didn't really know what to look for since there was nothing on the Funding Guide about it. We really do appreciate having the funding guide, as this was our first time requesting funding like this. I think we just relied too heavily on it, and since there were no more steps after, we just figured that the ordering process would be done for us based on the receipt we provided. I also think it would be beneficial to have more clarification on the difference between having the SLBO pay for the order as opposed to doing the reimbursement route, as I didn't realize that the reimbursement route was going to be a little bit more complicated by making me set up a PaymentWorks account. For our next event, we will ask the SLBO to pay for the order, but we are still a little bit unsure of the process and what steps to take beyond that.
